About dr.SK Skincare

Who we are, why we built this brand, and what makes it different.

dr.SK Skincare was created by Dr Segar and Dr K, two practising doctors with a focus on skin health. After years of treating patients with dry, itchy, sensitive, and eczema-prone skin in their clinic, they developed a range of skincare products based on what they saw patients genuinely needed. The brand was built from real clinical experience, not a marketing brief.

Yes. The dr.SK products were developed from clinic experience and are used in the doctors' clinical practice. When patients come in with dry, itchy, or sensitive skin concerns, these products form part of the skin barrier care routine that the doctors recommend.

Yes. All dr.SK Skincare products are registered with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) of Malaysia. This means they meet the safety and quality standards required for cosmetic products sold in Malaysia.

Yes. All dr.SK Skincare products are steroid-free. They are designed for daily skin barrier support — not for treating active skin disease. If you are currently using prescription topical steroids under a doctor's supervision, continue your prescribed treatment and consult your doctor before making changes.

Yes. The products were specifically designed for Malaysian conditions — hot weather, high humidity, and the effect that sun exposure and sweat can have on sensitive or dry skin. The textures are lightweight enough for daily use without feeling heavy or suffocating.

Sensitive and Eczema-Prone Skin

For skin that reacts, itches, or has never quite responded well to mainstream skincare.

Yes. The entire range is designed with sensitive skin in mind. The products are formulated to be gentle, free from common irritants, and focused on supporting the skin barrier — which is often the underlying cause of sensitivity and reactivity.

Yes. The dr.SK range is designed to be suitable for eczema-prone skin and was developed from clinical experience treating patients with eczema. The products support daily skin barrier care — which is a core part of managing eczema-prone skin alongside any prescribed treatment. For active eczema flares, infected skin, or symptoms that are worsening, please seek medical advice.

Start with the most minimal routine possible: one cleanser and one moisturiser. We recommend the Very Gentle Face Cleanser and either the Very Calming Face Moisturiser or the Barrier Cream. Avoid exfoliants, actives, and fragrance. Once your skin is calm and comfortable with the basics, you can gradually introduce other steps. If your skin continues to burn or sting despite using gentle products, please request a skin consultation.

No skincare product treats eczema. Eczema is a medical condition that requires proper diagnosis and, in many cases, prescribed treatment from a doctor. What skincare can do is support the skin barrier and help reduce the dryness and sensitivity that often accompany eczema. The dr.SK range is designed for this daily skin barrier support purpose. For active eczema or symptoms that are worsening, please seek medical advice.

Yes. Several products in the dr.SK range are gentle enough for children, including the Barrier Cream, Moisture Rich Face and Body Wash, and Repair and Restore Body Moisturiser. These are commonly used on children with dry, itchy, or eczema-prone skin. For children with active skin conditions or very young children, we recommend requesting a consultation for personalised advice.

Routines and Products

Which products to use, how to layer them, and what to expect.

Start with a gentle cleanser and a moisturiser. For face: the Very Gentle Face Cleanser paired with the Very Calming Face Moisturiser or Barrier Cream. For body: the Moisture Rich Face and Body Wash paired with the Repair and Restore Body Moisturiser. Introduce one product at a time and allow your skin a few days to adjust before adding the next step.

Skin barrier recovery takes time. Most people notice an improvement in skin comfort — less tightness, less itch, better hydration — within 2 to 4 weeks of consistent daily use. Visible changes such as improved skin texture or tone may take longer. Results will vary depending on individual skin condition and how consistently the routine is followed.

No. The formulation is designed with Malaysian weather in mind — humid, hot, and often sweaty. The texture absorbs into the skin without leaving a heavy, sticky, or greasy finish. It provides moisture and barrier support without the discomfort of heavier creams in warm weather. For best results, apply to slightly damp skin after bathing.

Sunscreen and Brightening

Sun protection and brightening that work for sensitive and reactive skin.

Yes. The Hybrid Brightglow SPF 50++ is formulated as a hybrid product — it provides both sun protection and skin moisturisation, designed to reduce your morning routine to fewer steps while maintaining broad-spectrum protection suitable for Malaysian sun exposure.

Tranexamic acid is generally considered one of the gentler brightening ingredients and is better tolerated by sensitive skin compared to alternatives such as high-concentration vitamin C or hydroquinone. It does not cause significant exfoliation or irritation for most skin types. We recommend stabilising your skin barrier first before introducing any brightening active.

We recommend stabilising your skin barrier first before introducing any brightening actives. Start with your cleanser and moisturiser, allow your skin 2 to 4 weeks to settle, and then introduce the TXA Luminous Brightening product gradually — beginning with every other night and increasing frequency as tolerated. Always use a broad-spectrum SPF in the morning when using brightening actives.

Our Clinic and Skin Consultation

When to see a doctor, and what a consultation with Dr Segar or Dr K involves.

A skin consultation is recommended if your skin concern has not improved with consistent skincare use after 4 to 6 weeks, if your skin is rapidly worsening, if your symptoms are affecting your sleep or daily life, or if you are unsure whether your condition requires medical treatment. Seek immediate medical attention for skin that is infected, spreading rapidly, or associated with fever or systemic symptoms.

No. Most dr.SK products are available to purchase directly without a consultation. A skin consultation is an option for people who want personalised guidance or who have a skin concern that may benefit from professional assessment.

Yes. Dr Segar and Dr K see paediatric patients with skin concerns. If your child has dry, itchy, sensitive, or eczema-prone skin that is not responding well to daily skincare, a consultation can help identify the appropriate care plan.

Still have questions about your skin?

Dr Segar and Dr K are available for skin consultations. If you are unsure which products suit your skin, or your skin condition may need medical assessment, we are here to help.

dr.SK Skincare products are cosmetic products designed to support daily skin barrier care. They are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. For severe, infected, rapidly worsening, or persistent skin symptoms, please seek medical advice from a qualified healthcare provider.
